health insurance: a must have or actually optional?
40 yo female, single, abstinent, no major health issues. Just had labs done and everything seems perfectly fine.
I want to quit my job soon. I feel completely misaligned and the work environment is becoming... toxic. The fear of being uninsured has been instilled in me (and the rest of the Western world) for as long as I can remember.
I work in the healthcare sector and see many many false "must haves" all the time. One major reason why I must get out. But the fear of losing benefits is driving me crazy. But also, the misalignment is driving me crazy. And eventually, I know this misalignment will cause me health issues. These health issues will result in me needing insurance...being stuck at a job that no longer brings me joy. And a job that often angers me as the system in which I work is so broken.
Advice? I cannot afford the marketplace insurance currently. And insurance is not mandated in my state (Virginia).
@stephanie-l-spencer For me, insurance is an important financial tool. It can help you live life with fewer worries knowing you’ll receive financial assistance after a disaster or accident, helping you recover faster.
@stephanie-l-spencer What about: first a new job and then think about insurance? If you're happy chances for illness become smaller. It's a bit navigating here. Yeah, you/we should and can learn to heal ourselves from any "illness". Or ask another starseed for help. Shouldn't be that expensive. Only insurance would be needed for accidents, but then again, with improved intuition we could prevent that to happen.
So I'm sorry i Don't have a straight answer, but it's good to consider all aspects. Sending strength for making your decisions.
@lighthealer_arkie the finding a new job thing is the tricky part, as I want to go into business for myself. I'll still have homeowners insurance and auto insurance, just feeling like the health insurance is unnecessary. And that yes! I can heal myself and prevent illnesses anyways.
I don't currently have short-term disability so if I had a major health isssue and couldn't work, I would lose the medical coverage pretty quickly anyways. so what's the point? hmm...yeah it's a challenging decision to make. thank you!!
