I recently came across this video explaining something called aphantasia, which is the inability of someone to create a mental picture in their mind's eye. And because of this, I just realized that I could never create mental imagery the way that some people do wherein they clearly see an image when they close their eyes.
Below is a brief test and example of what I mean:
So what often ends up happening for me, particularly during a guided meditation, wherein I'm asked to imagine something, is #5 wherein everything's black, though I have a vague understanding that I'm trying to picture these images. I never see anything, but just "know" that I'm thinking about it.
In that sense, it's sometimes more difficult (or requires more concentration) for me to follow any instruction on guided meditations or manifesting.
However, on the flip side, my inner voice is practically silent, and it requires little effort for me to "empty my mind" so to speak.
Just wondering if anyone has any insights as to what having aphantasia means on a spiritual level.

You can see it, hear it, feel it or just know it. Its either way fine.

When I began this journey aphantasia was something I too experienced.
I understand that it is brain chemistry / synapses wiring that creates this function.
My remedy was to experience the movement of your chi / prana energy as confirmation of creation.
In that sense, it's sometimes more difficult (or requires more concentration) for me to follow any instruction on guided meditations or manifesting.
True for me too - which is why I prefer the truth of Vipassana or Dzogchen meditation.
Direct engagement with the nature of mind!
Aphantasia is no obstacle to spiritual development - just a way to follow a different path.
It can be argued that #1 (above) can be an obstacle too - where one becomes indulged and trapped by mental projections and illusion.
Creating blockages (feedback loops) along their path of seeing greater / higher truths.
Rest assured, your brain is re-wiring as we speak and when the time is right, instead of creating the image - the image / projection will find you.
And that image may even appear outside the so-could space inside your head.
Discovering that all is mind and mind is all.
Follow your true nature with an open heart and your life will unfold as your higher selves have already foreseen it.
