interesting that this is the first place I come for help with this issue! But my gut tells me there’s a message here with this bat.
I have no clue how it got inside. It’s hot out and all my doors and windows are shut. I haven’t been up in my attic in months and that door is shut tight as well. I only have one main floor, an attic and a crawl space.
AND this isn’t the first bat trapped here, it’s the THIRD in 2 years.
it really really freaked me out the first 2 times. The first time I opened all my doors and windows and it eventually made its way out. But it had banged up against the ceiling and walls so much before its escape there was bat blood spattered in my home 🙁
The second one I discovered curled up on my bathroom floor by the toilet. Like it had just come out of the toilet and landed on the floor. Or just popped in through a portal or something. So bizarre. I freaked out and picked it up with some paper towels and put it outside. It was very little, very young.
this one my young daughter and I noticed flying around the living room at dusk - now we are hiding out in my bedroom. Fortunately she fell asleep and I was able to hide my anxiety from her…
any takes on what this message is for me?! Seems like each time this happens I’m going through a rough patch.
I was thinking maybe I can reach out to an elemental for help. We just heard the fairy tell EA they sometimes guide young animals who have lost a parent!!
im at a lost. Can this bat harm me or my daughter? I don’t know what to do. I know an “exterminator” (ugh sounds awful) would be a fortune and who knows how humane that would be as well.

Ok little update looks like there are humane bat removal companies in my area so faith in humanity is restored, ha
@stephanie-l-spencer If it's the 3rd encounter with a bat, did you ever thought it could be a sign? It is manifested into your reality. So maybe you should look into the bat as a "spirit animal" or "totem animal", and absorb the lessons or messages this brings to you. Give love to your spirit animal.

We had bats at my parent’s cabin.. a young one could mean they have found a way inside (old chimneys are great for this.) It could be a sign as well. If you can, make a bat house on the property. Then go over the outside and roof of the building to see where they are coming inside. It could be a crack in the wood. Or hang a security camera at different places to see where they are coming outside. Bats are great for taking care of bugs and have a strong fighting spirit. A mommy bat got stuck between the glass window panes, and I could see her defiance. She was super cool looking. Good luck. I hope you wait till August to move any of them outdoors, so the little ones can get their flight wings grown..

UPDATE!!! Didn't spot the bad for over 24 hours and thought it had escaped. Was woken up at 2am by it flying around my room. It hit my ceiling fan and fell to the floor. I gently scooped it up and got it out the window. It flew off. I thought the saga was over.
The next morning I was getting ready for work and heard a chirping in my bed sheets. I discovered a tiny bat baby, so new its eyes weren't even open. The chirping sound was actually its little mouth sucking trying to nurse 🙁 I placed it on my window sill (still in my blanket) as I tried to figure out what to do. Unfortunately, it dropped down to the ground outside. I went out and looked for it, tried to listen for it - but couldn't find it!! I was pretty sad that I had - again - maybe not made the right decision about my interactions with bats.
I was however proud of myself for staying calm and trying my best. I faced my fears without judgement. Something I think this whole situation is trying to tell me. It's ok to look at my shadow self. There's really nothing to fear there. Inside I'm an innocent baby bat just wanting rescuing. <3
I've sealed my drop down to my attic with duct tape. I read bats can squeeze into cracks and holes the size of a nickel. I think that will keep them out of my living space for now. And I'm communicating with a bat guy in the area who will help me seal out the attic space in the fall so this won't happen again.
Also just now remembering a shaman told me once a couple of years ago my spirit animal was a bat. Very intersting, huh?! Thanks for the support all <3

FYI For anyone dealing with a bat in their home, I found a simple and humane way of helping them out. I had high ceilings with fans and a window in a loft--- so it was flying back and forth until it laid above me, holding on to a cedar ceiling beam, looking at me upside down in the semi dark with its cute little ears moving. I was looking up ways to safely remove a trapped bat, and so i did the following:
Open the biggest, highest window and remove the screen. Turn off lights. get a textured plastic container like an empty yogurt container (like a mini one that has ripples on the bottom or side) or a plastic chinese food container from takeout . Use a spoon or better yet if you have a plastic spoon/fork from said takeout and scrape it over the texture of container right near the opening of the window. This will create a sonar imprint for the bat to find it's way out quite swiftly and smoothly. As soon as I did that it was out within a minute or less.
I share this story as much as I am able to when it comes up because I hear too many sad endings to these stories, a little information can go a long way!
But no judgement from me OP, everytime i'm faced with a wildlife situation it makes me feel very powerless and scared to know what to do for the lil guy/gal.
I've called wildlife rescue/ vets and rescue farms for birds, hawks, bunnies, parking lot goose....I now keep the number in my contacts lol
