Channeling Precautions

Guidance on how to safely and effectively channel for those who are still learning. For example, I create channeled artwork, such as connecting with spirit guides, elementals, beings, etc. I always set a high vibrational intention, but would love any other guidance/advice to make sure I am connecting safely/effectively. What do’s and dont’s do you recommend? Or for people who do mediumship, I have heard some say they dont like to call onto people, but if they show up themselves then they will connect. I know mainly intenion, discernment, and protection but if there are any other helpful tips that would be great!
