I agree! The “tradition” has three levels (I happen to be a non-practicing Level 3) and Mikao Usui himself has said that he thinks there’s at least six levels and only put himself at Level 5. The commonly missed point being that there’s always something more to learn and that even he knew people would expand on Reiki.
I took a brief, cursory look at Holy Fire Reiki (for example), and they appear to really believe they are an evolution of traditional Tibetan Reiki. They do use most of the same symbols, but look to have added some of their own as well.
All of that said, Tesla’s quote “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration” is dead on, so don’t limit yourself to just one healing modality!
