The loss of our forests

Even though science is proving repeatedly, year after year, that the “destruction of forests” (a term used in forestry) is harmful to climate, the eco system and biodiversity recovery - the forest industry continues to harvest and profit.  
My question to the GFL is do they have a suggestion of what we (simple humans) can do to actually make them stop or slow down significantly?  It seems like protesting, sitting on highways to stop traffic, letter writing and other forms of pleading falls on deaf ears.  Even NASA scientists have joined in the fight to stop us losing our forests.  I feel hopeless, like what we are doing doesn’t matter and the effects of logging are destroying this beautiful planet.
