The education system on Earth
I won’t give specific names or anything but I just thought I’d raise the question about the current state of the education system particularly in the UK. I’m training to be a teacher and I’ve come to realise how indoctrinated the system is, it feels quite dehumanising. I have diagnosed ADHD and OCD and am struggling with time management and behavioural management myself, I’m being totally overworked and pushed to my limit with no thought for my well being (but it’s been like that for lots of us) so God forbid how the children at school are feeling, if even the teachers are being treated so inhumanely! We’re told to be unemotional and always stern with the children, I lost a lot of my spark for teaching through this process, originally I decided to do this job to make a difference for children (like myself) who feel constantly degraded at school and made to feel self-conscious. I wanted to be a support system for the children who didn’t have anyone on their side and to encourage them to believe in themselves, but I feel like all of the motivation to make positive change has been pushed out of me due to awful human right policies, very strict micromanaging and a focus on unrealistic discipline.
anyway! I wanted to ask, what is going on with education, does the board of education have ulterior motives, as I don’t see any effort to divert away from authoritative, cruel methods encouraging all the children to behave the same (just a cog in the machine) from a spiritual and government perspective what is going on here? and why does no one seem to prioritise the children and their happiness/wellbeing more?
I know how you feel. I've lost motivation on things I've had a passion for, due to the things I've witnessed. I was supposed to work with the elderly in a nursing home, and after I saw the workers treat them horribly, I decided to not follow with that career. In your case, I believe you'll be fine. There's a veil that will expose so many messed up things, and I'm fairly certain that the education system in many countries are going to get caught in the crossfire. At my school, they were definitely pushing agendas. Like, why are we discussing politics and degrading people in a math and bio class? 😑
@sarahcafora Have you ever considered to re-educate yourself in the Waldorf teaching system, developed by Rudolf Steiner. My children went to this school system and I felt so at home in this school. Although the classes were too big due to government regulation. They managed to push their human like principles, despite all govt regulation rules they are obligated to follow. Look alone at the buildings, so organic! And the use of soft colors and natural materials. This was for me as a parent such a heart warming experience, looking back after 20 years ( got 3 kids, one still at high school), every time I visit the school, still got tears in my eyes. They put the human first. Not the results.
@sarahcafora I live in UK and if you feel that you want something better for children I would suggest to think about private teaching / tutoring for home education children as home education is on the rise and that is the future. School systems will go down sooner or later. 👍💖
