Technocratic way of development vs living in harmony with nature and using God's creations?

Why humanity has always taken a technocratic way of development instead of using what was given to them by God (e.g. using machines instead of God's creations)? Is it a diversion from original God's dream and intention for humans and is it what caused us to lose our Paradise? If we make a different choice and come back to nature will we return to Paradise (on Earth)?
