Solar Flare / Days of Darkness - Will Small Battery Powered Electronics Be Effected?
Something us preppers really want to know, in the case of a massive solar flare that does happen to hit and give us the days of darkness future potential, which electronic devices will and will NOT be effected? Obviously, the grid will go down, and LARGE electronic devices will be effected (computers, phones, etc). However, I had heard (in regards to EMPs) that small electronics do not have enough wiring to absorb enough of the EMP / solar electric charge to be impacted.
Things like battery powered flash lights, conventional wrist watches (NOT smart watches), small portable radios, small hand held compasses, small red dot gun scopes. Will such devices be impacted or still be in working order as long as you have enough batteries?
How about personal vehicles? Will all vehicles without EMP protection be dead on the side of the road? What if your vehicle HAS EMP protection (looking into getting an EMP proof kit for vehicle) will that protect it from the solar flare?
Just how impactful this potential solar flare is likely to be is very crucial for us preppers to know.
Thank you.
@michael-in-nh Interesting to know. Thank you for asking this.
