In healing. Do we have to know the reason for the problems, before we can be helped? why?

I sometimes notice that if i ask for help from for ex Archangels or my guides, its the most effective when they first get me to notice what the problem is, and then i ask them to remove it.. but if i just ask them for ex to please clean away any and all enteties stuck to my energy etc.. its like they do what they can, but it is the most effective if they can first show me the energetic problem, and then when i know about it they will happily remove it.. 

Why can we not just use our free will, and ask for help generally and then they will just fix everything? xD
