@brandi-meg, there are a lot of speculations and theories on what actually could have happened there. The most sensible theory I've heard which actually accounts for all facts and evidences, is that they got slaughtered by the criminals. It was a group of three, probably already with the criminal background, and they had anti-soviet intentions behind this kill. Since the hatred to the Soviet regime was behind the murders, and since the murders were absolutely unprecedented (nine bright students brutally slaughtered), the government never released anything about the case as it would severely undermine the regime and these things were taken very seriously at that time in that country.
Yes! I also want to understand what happened to those poor students.
