Complete Silence/Time Stop?

I had a bizarre experience this morning. I filled my gas tank around 6:30 am at a gas station on a fairly busy street. When I returned the nozzle to the pump, I realized there was complete silence. No cars were passing, but I could see some stopped at a light several blocks away. I did not hear the overhead lights buzzing, birds chirping, nor wind blowing. This lasted about five seconds, and the world started again when I opened my car door. When I started the car, the "buckle seat belt" and "too close" beeps sounded different. What happened? Did I jump to a different universe or timeline? Was it a glitch? Did I step out of time for a moment? Was it just my imagination?
