Lately this topic of 15 minute/smart cities keeps popping up in my reality.
These are currently being rolled out in many places around the world.
There are more and more cases of "accidents" like what happened in Ohio. Supposedly under a law they will be allowed to force the population from these areas to evacuate the afflicted area and move them into these "safe" areas, these 15minute/smart cities where every aspect of life is controlled by surveillance technologies connected to our digital identity. Also, these are also supposedly being prepared for when the next pandemic hits.
This shit exists in certain places in China from 2017. They already have that one app for everything crap that controls every aspect of their life. They get fined automatically. So, it's not some distant future. It's only a matter of time before more and more of countries adopt that shit.
Was there ever a question made about that particular topic to GFL? Are we really headed down this path of digital currency, digital ID, social score, living in small confined urban areas with 24/7 surveillance? Where any act of disobeying (as simple as simply crossing the border of another 15minute city) is going to be punished by deducting access to daily activities, deducting from our digital wallet etc.? Are we indeed collectively headed down that path or are we going to choose a better timeline? Is there any info about what our future life in this new digital, AI era is going to really be like?
I mean, I know there is no privacy when using the Internet and modern technology. After all the military developed it. But it still very different when you are also being forced to be confined to living in an area that can be crossed by a 15 minute walk from side to side and where you have to be perfectly obedient citizen. Are we indeed headed down toward these technologically more sophisticated versions of concentration camps?
