When I was about 17, summer of 1982, clear blue sky around 1pm. We lived in Wisconsin at an Army post called Fort McCoy where my dad was stationed. Our house was on post in a secluded area surround by woods and our nearest neighbor was about 300 yards away.
I saw 4 disc shaped craft about 150-200 feet over my head. They were in a square formation. I estimate that they were about 20-30 feet in diameter. That's based on holding a quarter at arms length and comparing it to the size of an object 150-200ft away. They were copper colored with a black center. Since they were overhead, all I saw was the bottom.
I noticed them after I was playing with my dog. I laid down on the grass and then looked at the sky and there they were. I saw them for
about 3-5 seconds then I quickly got up and ran into the house because my first thought was to get my camera and take a picture of them. By the time I came back outside, within 20 seconds, and looked up, they were gone. I was home alone at the time and thought to myself that I wish I had stayed and watched them instead of running to get my camera so I could have seen them take off. I never shared that experience with anyone until after 20 years or so when I told my wife. Not because I was scared but I just never had the desire to share it. This was an experience just for me.
I've never had another sighting in the day that was that close. I see things all the time at night when I practice the CE-5 method and I'll usually see a quick flash of light right when I ask for them to show me a sign that they are hearing me.
